Hope (again)

Yesterday, RAS called to tell me it was his 8 month anniversary being clean and sober. Natch, I congratulated him and told him how proud of him that we are.
On a lighter note, he complained there was no 8 month keychain...only 9 months. We laughed about it and both went on with our day.
I'm just stopping back in to convey hope to all the other parents out there. If you are new here, you don't know me at all. But I had totally written my son off as a dead crack addict just a year ago. This board got me through it and helped me to help my son. (or NOT help, depending upon the situation)
This post is simply an effort to convey there is always hope....no matter how bad it seems. And positive thinking can work miracles. I guess "don't give in, but don't give up" is a good summary of my experience.
That's all I have to give back at this time.
Love, Barb

Thanks, Barb, and congratulations to your son on 8 months clean. Every day they are clean is a miracle, so he's on a good roll.

And hugs to you, I can hear how happy you are in your voice.

Hugs

Eight months is a darned good start. We all have only today... and we are all new everyday.

Thank you for sharing this... I came here initially looking for help and hope... just as someone reading, right now, might be looking, too.

Thanks for the reminder that some of our sons and daughters will seek recovery and work at it. Thanks for sharing your ESH. It is so important that we maintain hope.
My son is back too after being lost for 5 yrs. Miracles happen.
I work my program and maybe one day maybe my son will choose to work a program.
In the meantime our relationship is wonderful .

Congratulations to Mr. Dee's son. I think you should make him an 8-month keychain! Thanks for the great news. I needed some hope today : )

Wow, Barb, I cannot believe it! Way to go for him and you!

You know that I had completely written off my AD and she had written us off but now we are communicating and she is trying hard to have a relationship with us.

Just the "trying" part makes my heart smile. In fact, we are going to the local fair here today with her and our grandbaby! And Mr. M and I are really looking forward to it. And we are even paying for everything! Who would have thought???

Hope is eternal.
