I'm so sorry you are having to go through this Ryan. My husband is an alcoholic/addict also and I have a 14 yr old son (15 in Nov). He's been through some of the same things you have with his dad coming home drunk and high. He would help him walk up the stairs into the house. It would break my heart to see him do that.

My husband isn't staying at home with us right now. I'm sure that's hard on my son also, but he tries to stay busy with school too. He also plays football and plays soccer too.

I think not having my husband at home helps my son to focus on himself more. But I know it also hurts him that his dad won't get better to be with his family. I know how hard this is for you. Just try to focus on you.
