Promises Addicts Make and Never Deliver on
 

I know we've all heard them. Promises promises.
Now that I can look back, I can remember promises made to me that never saw the light of day.
Let's hear your addicts promises.

"We'll go on vacation to Florida soon" (I must have heard that 100 times)

"You won't ever have to work once we get married" (LOL, LOL, LOL!)

"I am not addicted to oxycontin! I won't be taking it much longer."

my son:
"I won't do it again"

"If you give me $$ I will pay you back tomorrow"

promises and more promises. my exabf (we still live together) has gone to two detoxes within last 1.5 month. i still hear... "i will get a job soon", "i will be back in two hours...", "i will pay bills when i get back on my feet"...
it doesn't matter anymore. i don't believe any word he says... i just don't have strength to kick him out.

After a night of drinking no where to be found....next morning at 6:30 on his way to work "i promise i will never do it again" YAAAAAAA RIGHTTTT!!!!

how did I forget this? maybe because I hear it every day...

Oh guineapigjude, this has to be the biggest one.
Strangely, my husband was addicted to internet porn. He "chatted" with all kinds of women. I am not 100% sure he never met any of them. He swears he never did. But, can you ever believe an addict?
He got Hep C 3 years into our marriage and claimed he had it for over 25 years from Hep A he got in the navy. Does that make sense to anyone?
I got myself tested. I was terrified!
Cheating comes with a whole lot more horror today than it did 50 years ago.
From what I heard on the radio, you could count the STD's on one hand 50 years ago.
Now so many more have popped up. AIDS being the one that changes everything.

I heard a joke on here when I first arrived and I laughed my butt off. It goes something like this.

How can you tell an addict is lying? His lips are moving.

(this is response to a $108 motel room bill on my credit.... when he was supposed to be staying over at a photographer's house to shoot a wedding in NYC the next day.. Uh Huh.. Yeah.. I DO know him better than that.. and why I questioned him).

and then, when a former co worker of his and I got together to work on my compouter we compared notes... and we both discovered that this man could not stakck up six words in a sentence and have them all be the truth!

Yup.. Lips moving = Lies being told.

An addict promise is an oxymoron.

I've cut way back, you just don't know. I USED to take 60 pills a day, now I'm down to a third of that.

One day hopefully I will get it right.

I left because I turned you into a different person. I couldn't do that to you anymore.
