Just to clarify....

in no way does the fact that i feel sorry for her mean that i am offering her a free pass....

i feel sorry for her but she needs intervention....rehab/ jail /both

I too agree that she could cause harm to an innocent bystander

I feel sorry for her and she needs help and i hope she gets it
before we are reading another headline about her and her fatal addiction

Heard on the radio today that she is saying the cocaine was not hers. Hmmm...sound familiar. Marle

i've posted this elsewhere - she's a perfect example of people, places, and things.

First of all, she goes to a rehab that is nicer then most luxorious vacations that most people cannot afford, for all of 2 weeks and somehow expects to be fixed after putting in the smallest amount of effort. I don't feel sorry for her. The world has offered her so much and she's basically pizzed all over it. And who gets the attention, good and bad? These disgraceful ppl who CHOOSE to destroy their own lives. Not all those in the world who are doing something with themselves and trying to make the world better. I feel about as bad for her as I feel for my xabf! Not even a tiny bit! JMO!

She did 45 days in rehab, not 2 weeks.

Again, I would not wish this disease on my worst enemy.

Feeling bad for someone does not mean that you think they
are innocent are deserve a free pass, or that they are innocent
for driving loaded.
Not one person on SR is perfect or innocent of everything.
It's human nature to feel for people one thing doesn't always
negate the other.
At least in my world this is how it is.

LiL you made perfect sense to me..

I feel glad for Lindsay. She is young and she has a chance to recover! Her getting caught and suffering consequences is what she needs to face her addiction head on. She is beautiful, rich and talented and whats more, she is getting another chance to hit bottom before she loses everything. She is blessed! I hope and pray she gets it this time before she or an innocent bystander ends up dead. That is who I will really feel sorry for!

My AS stated that the reason so many celebrities OD is because they have the money to buy all the drugs they want. The street addicts are begging, conning, or stealing to get enough for that next dope fix. Just because a person has a big bankroll or a famous family name doesn't make addiction any easier to deal with. It is a chronic disease. The celebrity addict's judgment is no better than other alcoholics and addicts. Rich and poor addicts are not rational thinkers.

"Addiction has a specific definition: you are unable to stop when you want to, despite [being] aware of the adverse consequences. It permeates your life; you spend more and more time satisfying [your craving]." Dr. Nora Volkow, Director, NIDA. Quoted from Time magazine article "Addiction," July 16, 2007.
