I have chosen a Quit Day!
I have 7 Marlboro Lights in the last pack I will ever smoke.
If I have any left at bedtime, in the garbage they go.
I'm scared, nervous, and full of anxiety.
I am so tired of it. So very tired. I need your help, friends.
Help me kill this ugly monster that lives in my body.
The nicotine monster.
I need prayers from all of you tonight.
Prayers for strength and commitment, to see this through.
This is life changing for me. I want to succeed.
I need family, friends, co-workers, and my sr family behind me.
Please send your support and prayers up for me.
This is very important for me. As I am an addict to nicotine.
I have been an addict to nicotine for 30 years.
Tomorrow, I pray to wake up with determination and power.
The power to quit and stay quit.
Thanks for reading...
Love to all,
Linda

I've got your back! I've been "clean" for 1 year, 5 months after smoking for 27 years. YOU CAN DO THIS!! And you will be so glad that you did. It won't be easy.. it's one hour at a time, one day at a time. One tip... don't become an EX-smoker, but instead become a NON-smoker. In other words, don't think of it as "quitting" or "giving up" smoking. In your mind, make it a positive thing of healing yourself, freeing yourself. Hugs and prayers.

Hello Non Smoker!
That is great. Are you doing the patch or Chantix? I did the patch and it has been 2 yrs,2m, 3 d and counting. I feel so much bettter after 40 yrs of smoking. My husband I think finally is doing it. He has been about a month and I'm so proud of him.Go to the nicotine board here. They have great support people there. Just keep the faith and we are all behind you.

Thanks you all.
This is a humungus step for me.
I have decided to go with the Nicoderm patch.
4 weeks of step 1
2 weeks on step 2
2 weeks on step 3
After that I'm on my own. lol
Congratulations to you Mertzie and Sun Daisy.
I'm so glad to be part of the "non smoking" crowd.
Heck! Ya can't smoke anywhere here anymore anyway. lol
Anywhere, anymore, anyway. Funny.
Good Luck to me.
Marle,
Take your time and you'll know when your ready.
I think I've been ready for about 3 months now.
It just takes so much courage. That, I need to work on. lol
I'm just so tired of the costs, the way I feel afterwards, and the fact that my hubby has never smoked a day in his life really p*sses me off. lol
He has no idea, does he?
Punk!

Loves,
I'm only 43, but because I smoke, I feel 60.
Well, the fact that my son is an addict doesn't help.
But, hey! This isn't about him. This is me. All me.
All 190 lbs. of me.
OMG! What am I gonna do instead?
I gotta go.
I gotta go buy slim fasts, gum, a predometer, (?) and other mind numbing sh*t.
lol
Just kidding. I am gonna get some yogurt and slimfast though.
Gotta work on it, ya know?
I thought I smoked to control my weight. Huh! Yeah, right.
My weights controling me. The tobacco controls me.
I want to walk, then job, then run.
Can't do any of that while lighting up a daggone cigarette.
So....
Monday morning at 7:40 (I'll be showered by then) I will begin my non smoking day.
Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray!
Can I get a Woot Woot?
I'll be back. Keep up the pep talks. lol

Linda, Don't buy the sugarless candy. I tried those this past winter when I was working. I had gotten two cavities from the sugar candy. By the end of work I was so gassy that I could not wait to get in my car and you know what The sorbitol in the sugar free candy is not easily digestible. Hugs, Marle

Serenity now! Serenity now!
Jason just called. He's drunk and wants me to take him to the hospital.
Says there is something wrong. Yeah. There is something wrong.
Your drunk and the doctors will know it and tell you that's what's wrong.
He screamed at me. I hung up. He called back and says he has nowhere to go.
His gf has her kids tonight and he's doesn't go around the kids yet. They live with their dad. Their 11 and 13. His dad dropped him off there after they argued, (he's drunk too. who da thought it?)and now he's calling my phone to tell me, not ask me, to tell me to take him to the hospital before something really bad happens to him or someone else. WTF?
I want....
I turned down the phone, but now I'm gonna toss and turn all night and won't sleep because of the stupid guilts. Why do I let myself feel this guilt?
No wonder I f***ing smoke.
Sorry for the vent.
Tomorrow is my quit day and I'm not lettin' nothin', and I mean nothin' deter it.
Love,
Linda

Good luck and I hope you are successful! It is my understanding that nicotine is the most addictive substance known to man next to heroin. If you overcome that you will be a strong person indeed!
Linda, I let something like that with my daughter stop me from quitting a year ago. Things have not changed with her and I have another years worth of damage. Stay strong. You can do it. Just to let you know, you have inspired me and so I cut up two packs of smokes and have 2 cigarettes left and then I am going to take the plunge too. Hugs, Marle
I found this online and it really helped to keep me motivated when I quit I hope that it will do the same for you.
Within 20 minutes of smoking that last cigarette, the body begins a series of changes that continues for years.
20 MINUTES
Blood pressure drops to normal. Pulse rate drops to normal. Body temperature of hands and feet increases to normal. 8 HOURS
Carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal. Oxygen level in blood increases to normal. 24 HOURS
Chance of heart attack decreases. 48 HOURS
Nerve endings start regrowing. Ability to smell and taste is enhanced. 2 WEEKS TO 3 MONTHS
Circulation improves. Walking becomes easier. Lung function increases up to 30%. 1 TO 9 MONTHS
Coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath decrease. Cilia regrow in lungs, increasing ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce infection. Body's overall energy increases. 1 YEAR
Excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker. 5 YEARS
Lung cancer death rate for average smoker (one pack a day) decreases by almost half. Stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5-15 years after quitting. Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat and esophagus is half that of a smoker's. 10 YEARS
Lung cancer death rate similar to that of nonsmokers. Precancerous cells are replaced. Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney and pancreas decreases. 15 YEARS
Risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker
