Lake, I'm sorry...it is tough but I do think it is time to back off and let him grow. I'm not sure what employment is like where he is at but usually one can at least find a minimum wage job and that would show some commitment to wanting to stand on his own. The Oxford Houses around here require the people living there to have a job within 2-4 weeks...Members feel it is an important part of recovery.

If you don't feel comfortable pulling everything, what do you feel comfortable with? No food cards, no gas card...a time limit to get a job? It's easy to say don't do it, but harder to follow through so I'm thinking perhaps you can ease your way into stopping total support if that is a way that might help...We all get through this is our own time and in our own way. Prayers for you and your family.

I liked the Amazon idea...but then realized he wouldn't send it back, he would sell it.

I really wasn't kidding about the ramen noodles...eat those for a week and I would be looking for a job, probably fast food or restaurant as fast as I could! And there are always openings in those kinds of places!

Anything I bought my daughter, perishable or non, she sold cheap for crack...if I even bought her a pair of shoes she sold them..at the end she even sold her child's things...
Sad, sad day when they use drugs.

He will find food if you cut him off completely he is not going to starve. Trust me on this one. They are very resourceful, scamming is what they do best. MY AH hasnt worked in months, we are separated and with the exception of the 3 days I slipped and housed him and helped him get to work no one knows what or how he's been eating, but he doesnt look like a street junkie, he's even physically clean even with no power or water and he scrapes up enough money to eat a little and wash his clothes at a laundry mat, they get by
