I'm Baaaaaack...

Hi Everybody!

Just wanted to check in and let ya'll know I'm still around.
Was on vacation this week and had a very relaxing time.
Hubby and I connected...alot! lol
One day we took my sister and her 5yo grandson to the aquarium.
Big fun. He ran me to death.
One night we went to the movies and saw "Live Free or Die Hard".
Die Hard #4. "Bruce Willis, I love ya, you big baldy".
Best one yet. Ya gotta see it. Special effects? Awesome!
We took as to the ball game on Friday night. The whole city of Cincinnati is
a no smoking zone. WTF? 5 hours later, I was ready to jump in the Ohio River for a smoke. I know, I know. I plan on quitting pretty soon. (grin)
As had a good time, I think. He checked out all the women instead of watching the game, though. He doesn't see alot of people where he's at. (the boonies)
He did eat nachos/cheese/peppers. Yuck! He stank of peppers all evening.
He also had a ice cream. Something occured to me whenever he ate.
He has always eaten extremely fast. I mean, really fast. I asked him why once and he said that he hates to eat. He said it was a waste of time. He wouldn't do it at all if he didn't have to. I don't get that. Do any other addicts eat this way, I wonder?
Anyway, he and hubby talked a little and he thanked us for taking him. He also made me a b-day card. It was nice. I wish he would have pursued drawing. He's very good at it. Alot of his tattoos are designs that he drew first.
I did visit my daughter in Pennsylvania for a couple of days. I miss her already.
I always cry when I leave her. She's doing really well for herself, though. So, I'm pretty proud of'er.
Anyway, hubby and I had dinner out a few times. Once, at a mexican restaurant that was very good. I also had a strawberry marguarita. (sp?) Not something I normally do.
All in all, a very relaxing week. Hubby went back to work today, and I go back tomorrow. Lots of planning to do for Harry Potter night. Big party. Uhhhgggg!
Nothing too exciting or dramatic on my end.
Which is just the way I like it. lol
Thanks for reading.
Always prayers and love,
Linda

Linda, Glad you had a good time and that you and hubby were able to connect Sounds like you made a positive connection with both your kids. And sounds like they are both doing okay. My daughter always ate fast too, but she is bulimic so she wanted to stuff as much in as fast as she could so she could get rid of it fast too. Hugs, Marle

Thanks, guys.
It's good to be back. I didn't think about work at all. lol
Marle, just curious. After my son eats, he gags alot. Like he's going to get rid of it, too. He never does, mind you, but I sometimes wonder if he has an eating disorder or if it's just from eating so quickly. Weird, huh? Never really thought about it until now. That's me, though, always finding something to obsess over.
Thanks again for the welcome home.

Linda

Linda, I enjoyed reading the details of your vacation. I am glad that you are home safely and that the visit with your children went well. My husband and I never cultivated a habit of vacationing. We did take one cruise in our marriage of 39 years. I traveled extensively with one of my jobs, but he has never been interested in getting very far from home. I love to experience new places and faces.

My AS also eats like he is starved. I don't get it. Do you suppose it is based on the DOC?

Living close to the boonies . . .

Linda, I wonder if he has stomach problems from the years of heroin use and from the drinking. My daughter gets a lot of heartburn and I believe she can almost throw up without using her fingers. Yuck Marle

(((((Guinevere)))))

Not sure about the doc thing. My son hasn't used heroin in over a year.
He has smoked pot and drank, but since the new gf is 36 (he's 25) and a mother who doesn't do those things, he's trying to clean up some. I'm grateful.
She can be his new mom. lol
As far as his eating habits are concerned, he's been like that for many years.
He thinks eating is a waste of time and energy. He says he eats fast to get it over with, but who knows? This could stem from many things having to do with his addictive behavior.
Wow! I would love to take a cruise. Just not in the cards right now.
We did however become very good friends again. It was fun.
Thanks for sharing,
Linda

(((((marle))))))

he never complains of heartburn to me. in fact, he's never mentioned having any "food" allergies from drug use. then again, we don't really talk about things like that. i learned a while ago not to ask too many questions if i want the conversation to stay nice. if i start asking too many personal questions, he starts getting aggrievated and i wind up hanging up on him. lol
it's our usual cycle.
hugs,
linda

Hello Linda, if you feel ready to quit smoking a great resource is whyquit.com (I can't post links yet; < 15 posts). If you download "Joel's Library" there's all the information you'd ever need to help quit. I'm coming up to a year smoke free and owe lot to this site.
