I have good news!

Okay, so most people wouldn't think this was good news, but they did a culture on J's ears and found a rare micro-organism. Why is this good news..... cause he's been sick for 5 months straight and I'm told that he may finally get some relief!!!! Apparently this microrganism is only sensitive to one type of medication and that's why he's continued to have ear infections, sinus infections, and why his ears are bleeding!!! Soooooo we go on Monday to see the ENT because he wants to see it before we start the medication!!!! Please pray that this works!!!!! I know I am!!!!

Never, I can understand why it is good news...Knowing what is wrong with your child and that there is actually something that will help...well it is like realizing you aren't lost after all and there is a way out of the forest!

Saying lots of prayers that the treatment is successful and quick! Poor little guy...what a trooper to keep getting through this and what a good mama too!! Hugs and prayers

Knowledge is the most powerful tool we can have. That is why I stress reading and learning.. Once we have knowledge the rest is sure to follow.

I am so glad you gained this knowledge about J. Now you have a chance to gain power over this illness!
Praying for you all.

NGU,
I am so glad they finally found out what is wrong with J. Now he will finally get some relief. Hopefully the ENT is trained with children and takes good care of him.
You are a great mom, and he is lucky to have you.

I am glad they have found out what is wrong.

I have studied a little bit about micro-biology and a question I would want answered is what caused it? What is in the child's ear that this bug can live on...

It is my understanding that if there is not a pre-existing condition that most mircos cannot live where they cannot eat. If they kill the micro what about the condition that attracted it in the first place?

I say this with much love and care for you ((((nevergivingup))))

That is great news. We take our ears for granted, or at least I did.

As a child and an adult I have had numerous inner ear problems, and just said, ok doc, just heal it for now, please. Off I went.

Well come to find out at age 59, I have finally been diagnosed with Meniere's disease, all the pain, ear infections, dizziness and vertigo is what caused it. It is a chronic disease of the inner ear. I went un-diagnosed for all those years, thanks to marvel of modern medicine, I know what is wrong.

Fortunately, I only have it in one ear, and already have lost 40% of my hearing in that ear and will lose total hearing in that ear, but I will be fine

Thanks for the update.

Thank you all soooo much for all your prayers and comments and hugs!!!! I'm just sooo happy to know what's going on and to know that there's a little glimmer of hope in the future!

In December we had found out that he had lost 60% of his hearing. We opted to have tubes put in to relieve some of the fluids and because they were fairly concerned that he had permanent hearing loss. Well, his hearing is substantially better, but he continues to be in pain. This is really gross, but he's regularly had puss oozing from his ears, or his ears have been gushing blood. He's been through countless antibiotics and decongestants that have all slowed down the infections but none have ever gotten rid of them completely and they come back each time a little harder. Sooooooo..... it's been a looooong road and I'm hoping this will bring the answer!!!!

I can understand why it is good news, too. Nothing is worse then watching your little ones suffer and not being able to make it better.

Let us know what they find! I would be interested to know what the microrganism is. I was a Medical Technologist for several years and micro always interested me.

(((Hugs and Prayers))))

BTW, out of curiousity, what was the organism? My BS is in Biology, so I am curious.
