Angry OT I Hate Doctors

I have been suffering from migraine headaches for about a month and a half. They never go away. They are getting worse and now I keep getting sick from them.
Well my family doctor sent me for a MRI and MRA. Last week he called and told me I need to go to a specialist ASAP. The MRI showed some abnormal things on the brain. I thanked my HP for no temors etc.
Well I have been calling doctors for the last week trying to get in soon, but the soonest I can get in is July 24th.
I called my family doctor and he is now trying to get me in sooner, but he won't give me anything stronger for the pain, since he is not sure what is wrong.
Man I hate Doctors today. My head is pounding from the migraine and now I have to continue to deal with this BS of doctors.
Sorry for venting but I am so mad right now I could scream.

I hope everyone else is having a better day. Enjoy your weekend.

Call your family practice doctor and ask if theres any reason you cannot take an herb called "feverfew".

At the beginning of a migraine or the sudden pressure increase of an existing one I take 1 every half an hour and within 2 hours, Im atleast functioning.

Not sure if its the same, my migraines are vascular and coused by nerve....something, but the feverfew helps shrink the expanding bloodvessels, taht cause pain, which is usually triggered by stress or sudden increase in barometric pressure

Just always check with your doctor before starting any herbs and/or hollistic medicine.

That's ridiculous Pam. You need to be seen sooner than the 24th of July. Did your doctor give you any indication what it could be and the severity?? You're a lot more nice about this than I probably would have been. After a week of calling specialsts I would have just walked in to one of their offices and sat my behind down until they had no choice but to see me or I'd become a permanent fixture.
I'll certainly be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

This is not normal.. continuous migraine for a month and a half?. If anyone can see you sooner, GO. You have explained to your Dr. that you are sick with the pain?

If no one can, and since you have tests, you might want to go to the ER. Have all test info in hand. May want to talk to your Dr. b4 doing that.. but this doesn't sound like something to fool with.

Getting in a "system" like health care can be real annoying.
do take care of yourself no matter what.

And BTW I would be venting too.

I have been thinking of going to the ER with the MRI & MRA with me. If the doctor can not get me into the specialist soon I will do that. My family doctor is not sure what it is and does not want to guess, I guess he is protecting himself.
I am not functioning to well lately, but try to do a few things each day. Not driving much either since the light really hurts my eyes. When I go out I have a hat and sunglasses on.
Thanks for your support,

I agree with Elana...the ER may be the ownly option at this point. If nothing else they can give you some relief from the pain for a bit under supervision. Keep us posted and I wish you the best!! Julie

Just got off the phone with my family doctors office, they got me an appointment on Tues July 3rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait. At least they were trying to help me and did get me in faster than I could. They are handling sending my referral and all the copies of the tests I had to the new doctor. I have to take in my MRI and MRA.

I am very sorry for your pain and hope that you get to the bottom of your headaches soon.
As far as doctors go, I guess that's why they call it "Practicing medicine"; emphasis on the "practicing".

Pam, I am so sorry your are not feeling well. Glad to hear you will be seen next week. The headaches could be from a number of things. My youngest daughter had them pretty bad about 3 years ago. She would end up on the bathroom floor unable to get up. Hers were from her sinus's. She has not had one since she had her sinus surgey. So I hope yours will be as easy a fix.
Keep an ongoing list of questions on a pad to bring to yur appt on tues so you don't forget anything you might want to ask. You can also use it to write down things he or she might tell you as well. Keeping you in my thooughts and prayers. Feel better.

Thank you help us. I know they are not sinus headaches, I have had 5 sinus surgeries, and this headache is so much worse then the ones I would get with them.
It has something to do with the white mass of the brain, that is abnormal. I keep praying to my HP to keep me safe and to let this me something easily fixed. Hopefully it is an infection that they will be able to treat with just antibiodics,(sorry spelling).
I am worried but keep saying to myself that my HP is looking over me and will keep me safe.
Hope everyone has a good weekend if I don't speak to you

Good luck with your doctor's appointment. I too suffer from sinus headaches on a daily basis, but I know that's what it is when I get up in the morning and my head hurts already. Wow, 5 sinus surgeries. I thought about having it done, but now I don't know. Maybe it is an infection you have. Hope you feel better soon and keep us posted on 7/3.

Louise,
I keep getting pulps and I have underdeveloped sinuses. If you are going to get the surgery I will recommend a great doctor to you. IM me if you want her name, she is with HUP. I went to 2 other doctors for surgeries and they were no good. One I woke up in surgery and could feel everything he was doing and he told me to bare with him he was almost done, 30 minutes later I told him he was an A**hole as he was finishing up.
It helps and I know some people only need one to get it better.

Oh my 5 surgeries?? My daughters were migranes triggered by the sinus, they gave her (I'm blank right now) wicked strong pain relievers that wouldn't even touch them. She couldn't function when she had the headache. It would be all she could do to lift her head to vomit. Fortunatly the pediatrion didn't sit on it too long & she ended up fine after the surgery. She still might get an occasional sinus headache, but nothing like the migranes. So Louise it wouldn't hurt to look into it.
Pam I was hoping it would be something simple, that's why I talked about the sinus, but 5 ??? Man o man. I bet by now you know how to pack your own nose?
What kind of specialist do you see tues? I hope you fell well enough to enjoy the weekend. I'm sure your HP is right by your side. (((hugs)))

Pam, I'm so glad your primary got you in early. They usually can...it is absolutely amazing how long you have to wait for specialists (particularly in network docs) It's usually just that first visit that is tough...after that they seem to be able to squeeze you in any time.

I'm saying lots of prayers that your pain eases and you find comfort in knowing your HP is guiding you through this. Not knowing is the scariest for me and I imagine that the added stress doesn't help the pain.

If there is anything you need, things to be picked up at a store or errands to run, please give me a call or pm...You know the way to make a codie happy is to let her help

Hugs and prayers.

Oh mummy Pam, i am so sorry to hear that!!
I never had that bad headhaches and for that long but i had enough migraines to know how much it is a pain! I also did MRI cos of this, but fortunately they turned up ok. I hope they can find the reason of your headhaches on the 3rd, and hope it is nothing serious. Keep us updated & take care of yourself.
Thinking of you
