Cool Confessions of a Duck Loving Codie

You may remember my confession a while back about feeding the ducks who came up on my deck and pecked at my door for food...and then pooped on my deck?

Well, I tried, but these ducks are just too cute for this codie to ignore...and now there are babies, next generation of ducks, who also come for food each morning.

And I confess, they are too cute not to feed, so I thought I'd share them with you and give you a morning smile...

These are the baby male and female, still speckled and growing, but when you see Dad in the background you can see the difference between the baby and adult Mallard...

Dad (on the left) has smoother colouring while the babies are still speckled...

I confess that even with all my recovery, I still have a soft place in my heart for ducks.

Hugs

Nothing like stepping barefoot into freshly deposited duck poop to start off your day right!

Duck poopy is very fertile... Maybe that is why you grow so in recovery, Ann?

I believe their cuteness is just an intelligent cover up for a "Dark Duck Underground Society For The Destruction of Codies".

Naaaaa, Ann, Mom had a better method. Mom lived in N.Palm Beach, FL and every week went to the discount bread store to get the bread for her ducks, whom she fed on the back concrete patio outside the screened pool, then proceeded to complain how dirty they were, roflmao.

Finally she put a splitter on the water faucet, put a hose with a good sprayer that could be turned totally off, right outside the screen door to the patio, even had a hook so hose was at hand height, no stooping over, (mom was in her early 80's by then). Open door, grab hose, hose off patio, hang hose back up and walk out on 'clean' patio,

roflmao.

Just keep a hose nearby and hose off the deck, and ENJOY your ducks, they can be such a treasure.

Love and hugs,

I love the irridescent green of their heads. It's one of the most beautiful colorings in nature, I think.

How cute! Ann, you're just a real "softy"! (and I'm afraid they have learned that - you are definately in trouble now)

You've been had! By poop machines.
Wish I had some poop machines in my yard.
Wait! I don't have a yard.

Thanks for the pics. What cuties they are.

LOL, Book I love your little duck.

Even Toby is nice to the ducks. He sits and watches and quacks softly at them trying to figure them out.

It's fun sharing my ducks. The neighbours think I'm nuts, but we all know that isn't true....don't we??

Awww they're cute little poopers!

We have 2 new fawns down here....
Scares me to death, I want them to stay on THIS side of the street!

Is that too unreasonable?

I think it's codie displacement, Moose, we can't control our kids but we sure want to protect the animals.

I know that nature takes care of it's own but I want MY ducks to live to be very very old. I'd walk them across the street too.

Ok, so after I looked at them and thought, "Oh, how cute", I began to relate the ducks to the quacking by the addict. Why look at the size of those beaks, or snouts, or lips, or whatever you call them. Can you see how the lies can just rolls right out of there?

Enough of that. I don't know what came over me. I was about to type some profound recovery thing (now there would be a "first" right there), but the quacking and lies thing came out first.

They are cute little critters. Too bad they can't meow or something.

Love your ducks!

I walk along a canal tow path at lunch break and have been really enjoying all the awakening of nature in the last month or two. Lots of baby turtles and ducks and geese. The parents are so protective. I'm working on not being a people pleaser, but apparently I am a goose pleaser. Two of the babies crossed my path and mama goose went right after them. The path was so narrow I knew no matter where I stepped, she would think I meant harm to her babies and get upset. So I turned around and walked a different route...

I guess I'm a work in progress.
