BIL in jail

Good morning,
Seems like BIL got picked up for DUI, this is his 4th charge...I understand SIL is on her way to bail him out, his bail is $500....

I do have a question, do they also drug test someone who gets picked up on a drinking charge?

Jwife22 05-21-2007 06:17 AM

Don't know Moose.....for some reason I want to say it is up to the discretion of the officers who arrested him. I heard that somewhere I think but I could be wrong.

Maybe this time it'll stick to him....surely they'll take his license this time but you never know!

I don't think so, unless he was involved in an accident with damage or injury. They genereally can prove "under the influence" based on a brethalyser and/or coordination tests. No need for them to spend the extra money on drug testing, too... unless he passes the brethalyser.

Doesn't sound like she is in program...yet? Hard to watch. (((hugs)))

Well, last year he supposedly did some rehab....
had those cute yellow/orange license plates on his car...

cece1960 05-21-2007 06:38 AM

They did not drug test my kid...even after they found paraphania in the car.
But then again they had enough to go on with the breathalyzer.
Prayers this is closer to his bottom
((((Hugs))))

So true from a government perspective...why waste the money if there is enough evidence based on the breathalizer.

I'm sorry he hasn't gotten it yet. I hope perhaps this time is it. Unfortunately I think taking a license doesn't do too much in terms of recovery; just keeps alcoholics who do observe rules off the road and from injuring others, (obviously not a bad thing) Before I understood addiction, I could not comprehend how my daughter drove after drinking once she was charged and lost her license for six months. It took her 3 times (the last resulting in mandatory 10 year license loss) before she "got it" It wasn't the charge; it was going to a 90 day program...She went there to avoid some of the mandated jail time for 3rd offense, but once in the program the light went on...

I do hope your BIL taste of rehab will help him to want recovery this time.

Nothing changes, if nothing changes...

And I'm staying WAY out of it.....

(this is one of Mr. Mooses brothers,
btw, who's 47-ish, lives with mommy.
..you know same old story)

My sister is currently in jail for 6-9mos for her 4th DWI they didnt give her a drug test but they had enough evidence to charge her. I wish she would have gotten rehab instead of jail. I dont think jail gives the counseling or the help to give people that really needs it. I dont think it gets to the root of the problem well I dont think this is her wake up call she needed I really wished rehab would have been sentenced so they could work on her drinking issues and give her the counseling that I believe she needed to get better. Well who knows maybe she did learn something but I think there is still alot of work to be done. Sometimes they just dont get it and just dont learn. I totally understand its best to just stay out of it like its said around here alot no need to take a front row seat to the drama. Hope he gets the help he needs.

Well when ex-abf had himself arrested, they found pot on him...they arrested him, but didn't drug test him...Duh, I wonder why, never will understand the system.

So, my guess would be...No, they didn't.

just want to say that i'm praying for you and all of your family

Wascally Wabbit 05-21-2007 03:49 PM

What are the "cute yellow and orange license tags"?

historyteach 05-21-2007 03:55 PM

(((Moose)))
I'm so sorry. I didn't see this earlier. I know it's difficult, and Mr Moose hardly needs this additional burden right now...

My prayers for your BIL, and for all the family...
I pray he finds his way. :amen:

Shalom!

In Ohio, repeat Dui offenders have a yelow, or orange colored license plate, that you can see from a mile away, that points out the fact that they have been convicted of a past Dui.

Teach,
Mr. Moose doesn't seem too stressed, as this is a continuing saga.....
It's just not pretty to watch....the codependence, and the manipulation....

Wow...sort of like a scarlet letter. (Sorry, that's the first thing that came in my head...avid reader)
Perhaps not a bad idea...I would tend to drive very carefully and defensively if I saw an orange tag...

Sorry Mr. Moose has the added stress right now. Prayers for all... perhaps this is The Thing that helps your BIL and SIL to see the light!
