Hi all, I think this is a really good topic, and brainstorming opinions

of what people have learned or what they have experienced is one

of the best ways to learn and share. I don't take any offense to ones

experiences or opinions. One of my favorite sayings is, minds are like umbrellas, they only work when their open.

It's kind of like trying to where another's shoes before you

judge where they are coming from.

This thread is a good example of that, I see people coming together

to share their stories, and experience, no us and them.

God bless us all. hope3

The key phrase there is "tends to come across as if the info is correct". Lewis Black said it perfectly in the movie "Man of the Year" discussing how the media has evolved. He used the example of a two men on a talk show, one who is an "expert" on how the holocaust never happened and the other a respected historian on the holocaust. Just the fact that they are sitting on the same panel is absurd and worse yet, many people watching won't know who to believe.
As responsible thinking adults, we still have to discern what we believe to be correct and what is BS.
Even the excellent HBO series includes alot of research which could be found out to be incorrect in a few years.
Just my humble opinion.

When all else fails remember KISS --keep it simple stupid---that works for me.

I think far more relavant is "Its also staged/produced/edited and not real life." My conversations are not edited by some editor and bits left out ....

what I hold to be true is probably not to be found on a TV show hosted by Oprah. After 2 1/2 decades of chaos and insanity I will not leave my choices to a voice on a 'black box' rather I will rely on my experience and that of my peers, learning as I go and sure there may be something to learen from TV but is it worth all the conditioning that goes with it?
