Question about al-anon
I am from a small town, and there are no nar-anon groups within 100 miles or so. I am planning on going to my first al-anon meeting tomorrow, as am desperately in need of some support in dealing the my brothers addiction.
Is there anything I need to know or bring with me? Is it ok to go to an al-anon meeting, or should I call in first, as alcohol is not my primary concern?

Rub, many people here go to Alanon for the same reason you state, because there are more meetings and it is more accessible.
Just go and be yourself. The people there understand and will support you. You don't have to say anything until you feel ready. I just sat and sobbed at my first three meetings and they just handed me tissues and kept sharing. Lots of hugs too.
Meeting vary from area to area, so keep an open mind, give it a chance by going 5 or 6 times and if you can, try a variety of meetings until you find the one that suits you best.
This is a good thing you are doing for yourself. Please let us know how you make out.
