Codie Empowerment

I've been reading quite a bit down here, and as I said in a previous thread, I bought this book called "Faith in the Valley" by Iyanla Vanzant...

I thought this page was empowering...what do you think?

It's titled:
I know I shouldn't feel like this, but I do!

You have a right to grieve, to be angry, to cry. You deserve a new dress, a new pair of shoes, or a new haircut. You do not have to answer the telephone, or the door. You are under no obligation to show up, unless you want to. If you want to stay under the covers, or sit naked in the middle of the floor, and eat grapes, go right ahead and do it. Never be so responsible for the world that you forget to be responsible for yourself.
Confusing, tragic, painful events will come and go. These events cause shifts in our minds and upheavals in our hearts for which we need time to grieve, heal, understand and accept. It is a process of taking care of one's self. While the brain is clearing, the heart mending, the body healing, it may mean taking a break from the regular routine, and moving away from the routine people. Give yourself permission to do whatever is necessary to take care of you. Take a walk. Have a cry. Break a glass. Write a letter. Pull your dress up over your head! Go ahead, do whatever it takes to help you feel better.

Hugs to all

I have always said that I am an adult, I pay my dues and I can do whatever I want as long as I am not stepping on someone else's toes in the process. So, Yes, I like that passage. There comes a time in life where you gotta do what you gotta do. Hugs, Marle

I love it, Moose, and I am going to have to find myself that book. When Mr. Ann says "What Book?" I'll tell him it is the book that lets me pull my dress up over my head.

Seriously, it sounds terrific and just exact what I need to read right now. I need to be empowered over something and it may as well be myself.

WOW - I love the book already! And I think that all of those suggestions might be good for me to try, being the tight #$$, Type A control freak that I am. Too bad that I need a book to "give me permission," but whatever it takes - right?!

Moose, Our meeting tonight was on reaching out and I shared my continued amazement and gratitude for how our HP lets us hear what we need to hear in meetings...

While the brain is clearing, the heart mending, the body healing, it may mean taking a break from the regular routine, and moving away from the routine people. Give yourself permission to do whatever is necessary to take care of you.
Intellectually I understand this, but I am not sure why when I need it, I can't accept that giving myself that permission isn't selfish. Sometimes this is hard work...it feels easier for the moment of extreme struggle, to fall back on old habits.

This is the second post of yours today that has given me just what I need to hear. I think your name has changed in my mind from Mooselips to Mooseangel
