7 weeks for son in rehab

Today is seven weeks my son has been in rehab. He did relapse two weekends ago during his pass home and so he lost his pass home this past weekend. Even though many of you advised me not to visit him, I went up to see him on Saturday. His counselor thought it would be a good thing. I was glad that I did. We talked about his relapse quite a bit. I think we both felt better after our talk. He seems to be back on track for now. I am trying to spend my mental time on things that are away from his recovery....writing, reading, taking walks, enjoying my time alone. I do get lonely for him, but I just keep trying to tell myself that he is better off there and everyday that he is clean and successful there is a good day.

Glad your visit went well. My son and I have long talks concerning
addiction, recovery, and relapse. It's a shame he doesn't heed his own
words though. lol
I'm so glad he's up to 7 weeks and ready to get back on that wagon.
Good for him!
As for you...Bravo! Your recovery is shining too.

Love ya,
Linda

"We talked about his relapse quite a bit. I think we both felt better after our talk."

My AS is barely over 60 days sober and many of his rehab buddies relapsed. The trick is to confesss and start the clock ticking again in recovery. I am encouraged that your son is still working the program. So many just are so ashamed that they don't return.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I pray things continue to go well for both of you!

I'm glad you had the visit and it went well. We moms just have a place in our hearts that wants to hold on and believe as long as possible.

Hopefully your son will learn from the relapse that he can't be around old friends and places. In the meantime, you continue to spend your time doing what you are doing. It sounds like a good plan. Quiet time always helps me to relax, think, and pray.
