things to be grateful for today

my life has been chaotic this past week. Today I worked a few hours and then my daughter came over[the 28 year old with my grandson that had a drug problem, clean and sober 2 years}..My barn was so full and disorganized that if you opened the double doors, things would fly out, and I needed to put my riding mower in there. My daughter and I worked for 3 hours and unbelievably can fit 2 motorcycles, a riding mower, and still have plenty of room left. The fact that this young woman has picked up the pieces of her life and not only brought me dinner a few nites ago, but spent her one day off helping me clean up and start to organize my new life makes me very proud of her...I am very grateful for that...Marian

And what a source of hope for the rest of us.
Thank you for sharing during this difficult time.

Patch, I live on these messages of hope. Right now I don't recognize the person my daughter has become. It is hard to remember the good times before addiction. When I read posts like yours I know that somewhere inside the addict is my daughter. She was not perfect and she may never be the same person she was, but I know that there is a better person inside of her. I am so happy that you have your daughter back and that she is showing you the love she has for you. Hugs, Marle

That is so wonderful. I love to hear the "good" stories along with the bad.
