Addictive Personality
Thank you so much for taking the time to write and share with us this very insightful piece. My ABF has been trying since 2/17/06 to be clean (DOC crack and alcohol). He has stumbled a few times, but has made it over a week this time. I will keep rereading this so I will actually realize the impact I can have - helping or hurting him. Thank you so much!
Pernell,
Thank you so much for this posting. I really saw a lot of myself on the provacatrix. The section on a superior attitude really hit home. I know that being humble is one of the issues that I really need to work on. I will listen and respect others perspectives today. I can learn from everyone around me. Even the A in my life.
Thank you.

This is a great useful tool for family members and spouses who are going through difficult situations with their addicts. I too have printed this and will keep it handy whenever I feel I don't understand why they are doing the things they do.
Is there anyway to get just your posts for printout? Or the info you based your posts on?
I know I can cut and paste, just being lazy....
Great info and can't possibly thank you enough for such great stuff!

This is an absolutley wonderful post! I profoundly needed this tonight. I had all but given up. You helped me understand how important it is that I mustn't give in when my addict appeals for help. You made me realize that I may be giving up on our relationship too early. An easy way out is to get out of the relationship. I might just hang on a little longer, (from behind the curtains), and see how his act plays out without me there to pick up the pieces. Thank you.
Thank you for everything you typed Pernell. I copied and pasted it for a few people to read. My Mother has a prescription medication addiction and all of us are kind of lost on where to even begin. They're both 70 some years of age and it’s a pretty messed up situation. I'm searching the net to gather as much as I can, and saw this beautiful tool that I know will help if all involved can be honest with themselves.
