There's a saying out there that says something to the affect of: "If you look hard enough, you'll find it".
I think that in this case - this is exactly what he did. He took one paragraph of a whole book that he felt released him from his responsibility in the marriage and is trying to justify and convey that message to you. Again, by avoiding having to take responsibility, the manipulation and guilting here is that it's your fault that you can't see what he is quacking as the truth.

Stay the course sunshine - you know in your heart that he's quacking.

LMAO minnie.....I can't stop laughing now. Imagine all the light bulbs that went off when he read that....only they weren't light bulb moments in the sense that he saw how HUGE his problem is, just light bulbs that could blame me as SS said.
