You know what else I love about the US? I get ID'd EVERYWHERE, including buying ciggies, which is massaging my ego just nicely.

Jazz - you expecting a bunch of codies to make decisions? Sheesh.....

I was planning on presenting options and opinions, Milo can be the tie breaker vote. The Baltimore Aquarium would be a fun day trip, just over an hours drive. I know the Inner Harbor well, very cool place! I think this leg of the tour will be water themed
Between DC, Baltimore, Annapolis and the Eastern Shore... you guys are gonna need more time! LOL!!!

Carded buying fags huh? That's gotta make you feel good

Don't forget all of the other great places nearby. If anyone's into American History, there are quite a few battlefields from the Civil War nearby (you've got Bull Run in Manassas, Antietam up here in Boonsboro, Gettysburg about two hours away in PA). If you're into watching horses run around a track, or losing money in slot machines, you've got Delaware on one side and you've got the CharlesTown race track out here in WV.

I think you need about a month to do all the things there are to do around here. Unfortunately, those of us that actually live here rarely do any of those things.

Oh, and don't forget about all of the various zoos around here, too.

Hey cgdc1269! I'm a fellow West Virginian...Those Civil War battlefields are in every town in the state and I've never been to one of them...lol. If you do get to come in this direction, Minnie, the mountains are wonderful. I've traveled a lot and the east is my personal favorite.

I will not be able to leave that DC area without seeing some our
Nations most historic sites.....I hear everything there is within
walking distance. I may extend my trip by another day or two based
on recent events here with my family.

So, last few hours in Phoenix before I catch a plane to go see Patty. I have taken my pictures of cactii and had a Krispy Kreme, so my tasks are complete. I am saving the Cheescake Factory for you, Patty. Or perhaps for DC.

I have had a brilliant time here. Minx has been a wonderful hostess and I can say that I have made a fantastic friend irl, as well as on the boards. She is one of the wise ones and any newbies would be well advised to read her posts carefully. And I can't end my Phoenix report without mentioning Cynay and Prodigal. Cynay is so bubbly and full of life with the most fantastic smile and I am sad that we didn't get to spend more time together. Hopefully I will be able to meet up with her and her daughter later this summer. And Prodigal - it was so good of you to come all that way for such a short time. It was wonderful to meet you at last and hope it wont be the last time.

So, I wonder if I'll be sitting next to any cute guys today......

Awww, Minxy. Thank you for your lovely words. I miss you too, hon. Looking forward to a meet up next year, wherever in the world that might be.

I arrived safely in Chicago and, would you believe, I was cold at the end of yesterday afternoon!! Seems I got used to the Arizona heat better than I thought. We forewent cheesecake (for now) and had cocktails in the bar on the 96 level of the John Hancock Center. Wow!! The views were amazing. I'm not sure my brain can cope with all these mind-blowing sights in one week! Patty is great fun and I just know this is not going to be a quiet week.

(Mega - this time I was sitting next to a 75 yr old Korean man. Huge let down after chatting with the hot 24 yr old grad student at the departure date.)

Believe it or not the view was most amazing from the ladies room....
lots of women hanging out in the restroom.....The 96th floor
has a panoramic view of the entire Chicago shoreline....and the
buildings....breathtaking.

I see another major thread derailment coming..

the mens' room at the Peninsula hotel in Hong Kong is supposed to have an amazing view...

something about the urinals being on floor to ceiling glass walls overlooking the harbour..

don't have any personal knowledge of it..the women's room at the same hotel is cool..

Im told that the tallest building in Seattle has a resturant on the top floor that the whole wall in the womens room is nothing but glass and you have a view of the harbor while taking care of business.

Have not seen it myself but hey

OK... I was in Vancouver years ago, work related travel. I had never been in a skyscraper before that. I was at a clients office on like the 80 something floor and had to use the restroom. When I went into one of the stalls and looked down into the toilet, the water in the bowel was kinda sloshing around like when you just set your coffee cup down! This was just from the sway of the building! It freaked me out so much I got a case of vertigo and I couldn't go! I wrapped up my work there and got out of that building! LOL!!!!

Beautiful city Vancouver, BTW.
