A very disturbed world.... My daughter and son in law live in a beautiful quater million dollar home in a very good neighborhood about 20 minutes from me. Last night at 12:45AM their home was shot up with by what appears to be a gang related shooting. The shooter(s) actually got out of the vehicle according to authorities and stood about 5 feet from their windows an opened fire. The home is a tri-level and the windows they chose fortunately were the bathroom windows which are on top of each other...one on first floor and the one on second directly above. Their bedroom window and my grandsons were right next to these about 6 feet across....Trees covered these windows so they were not as accessible. My grand sons bed missed a bullet by 3 feet. My daughter loved her home....she can no longer live there. They spent the night at my house last night and will probably do so again until we can find suitable accomodations....there are 5 in their family. I hear this stuff on the news all the time....it is always somewhere else, happening to someone else....this has hit home big time.... My whole sense of security and well being has been rocked. I viewed the damages this morning and physically got ill. We are blessed that everyone is safe and unharmed, but the what could have beens are eating us all alive.... Prayers my treasured friends please..... |
We are blessed that everyone is safe and unharmed, but the what could have beens are eating us all alive.... ((Hugs)) Sarah |
Thank you Sarah... Here is the what could have been that haunts me the most. My 2 boys were supposed to go to say with my daughter this Friday thru July 4th while I am on my trip in DC.... Had this happened next Sunday and not this past.... my 2 boys would have been killed as they would have been sleeping in the family room where most of the bullet holes were fired into....... |
oh patty!! how horribly frightening! God was watching over your family - all of them. prayers to all of you! |
(((Patty))) I am so sorry to hear this. It must be such a difficult time for you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Thinking of you. Minnie xxxx |
How sad this is the world we live in. Can they find a safe place? |
(((Patty))) more prayers for you and your family! |
Wow Patty, that is truly frightening. I'm so glad nobody was hurt. I used to live in L.A. where that sort of thing happens all the time. I'm glad they have you nearby to stay until they find a new place. I would certainly want to move too. They're in my prayers. Mike :) |
That must have been terribly disturbing for all of you. I'm glad they are all physically OK. Sorry this shocking event has brought such turmoil. It wouldn't suprise me if the perpetrators were high on something. There seems to be no regard for human life...it's sad. |
(((Patty))) Good grief! How horrific that is. I'm so sorry that you and your family are going through this, but am very grateful that everyone is physically OK. My AH and I during our first year of marriage were almost the victims of a home invasion. Luckily, we were smart enough not to open the door and call the police. Stuff like that really hits home and makes you realize that no place is truly safe. |
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Right now they are meeting with the insurance adjustor and the window board up company. They are gathering up some personal stuff too to bring with to my house. I have a call in to a friend of mine who has a couple of homes that he rents out...I hope I can secure one for them if that is what they want me to do. I will feel better if they are yet closer to me and in a safer place..... |
Jesus God Patty ..... how awful. I have no words ....... |
Big hugs (((((((((((((((((((((((patty and family))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Ngaire |
Was it some kind of mistake by the thugs. Were they after someone else? I hope the cops have a lead on them!! Insane!!!! |
WHAT?!?!?!? I don't know what to say???? |
The disaplinary(sp) Warden for Statesville Prison lives next door to them... On Friday he put his truck in the garage and put the car (doesn't run) that has been in the garage for the last 2 years in the driveway. His license plate has his last name on it. My SIL said he NEVER parks in the garage. I think he may have been threatened by inmates and took these precautions. My daughter usually parks her truck in the garage, left it in her driveway last night...Her house is blue tones his house is browns... Who knows at this point what really is happening. She is worried that when they find out (shooters) that there were no fatalities (via the media) they will be back.... What a hell of way to have to live! |
HOLY COW!! Im sooo sorry. That is just some scarry stuff... Prayers to you all. |
I,too, dont know what the heck to say....geez............hugs to you all............ |
How awful Patty! It's so understandable you feeling so vulnerable. I hate that people can rob us of our sense of safety so quickly. Take care! |
Patty, what a horrible thing to have to endure. Sounds like the judge was the intended target and your daughter's family had the misfortune of living next door to him. A judge lives across the street from my parent's house. About 20 years ago, he installed bars on his windows and doors because he feared a similar assault on his family. The bars remain in place today. I'm so happy to hear that nobody was hurt. My prayers go out to you and your family. |
