I'm so sorry that happened to them. That really pulls the rug out from under them as far as feeling safe anywhere. It will probably change things for them for a long time. That's very sad. I would have to move too and it would take me a long time to feel secure again.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My heart goes out to u, ur daugther, and her family. How truely scarey. I was the victim of a violent crime when I was twelve and lived in a city and nothing can shake your world up like a near death experience. I am glad they are all safe and sound with u. I will pray for u all. kerry

Thank you everyone....last night was rough, I heard my daughter get
up a couple of times....when I left for work this morining everyone in
the household was still sleeping ...I went home at 9:30AM to change my
top (spilled coffee all over myself...idiot) they were all still asleep. I guess
it is well needed rest. Still don't know what they intend to do. The insurance
said they wouldn't pay for a hotel as the house was livable...yeah right.
Both of the bathrooms are shot up pretty good...shower in one has holes
thru it...glass and debris everywhere. Maybe when SIL meets with them
today he can change theri mind on the hotel thing..anyway we are all
hunkered down for them mean time...I think they feel safe with me,
at least for now they do....I wish I felt that way myself.....

Glad everyone is getting some well-deserved rest this morning. Do you think that your friend will be able to find a good rental for them somewhere? If it were me, I don't think I'd want to go or feel safe in a hotel after that just happened! They are lucky to have you close by.

This whole thing sounds like it should be on dateline or 20/20. A deal of mistaken identity sounds very possible. Dumb sh*ts should have gotten the address right instead of going half-cocked like that. Not that I'm saying they should have shot up the judges house. Not at all.

I hope your SIL is able to make other arrangments for them so there isn't the pressure and angst of living together under the current circumstances.

Hugs, love and prayers to you and yours.

Thanks Kathy....
Funnily enough there was another shooting on the other side of town
that very night, actually 1 hour and a half after my daughters occurred.
THAT was in the paper today, however, my daughters wasn't. I find
that odd on so many levels....sounds like a cover up more and more.
The paper stated that witnesses in the 2nd shooting actually saw
the shooters get out of their vehicle to shoot up the 2nd house.
Police said the shooters got out of the car at my daughters as it
appears they were 5 feet from the windows of my D's house.
I think these 2 shootings are connected somehow.....

That is VERY weird that their story did not make the papers. Something strange is going on. I'm sorry you all have had this interruption too. Things like this really put into perspective how unpredictable and fragile life is.

Definitely not good if there's a cover-up. This is what I would do...I would contact the paper or the tv station and tell them that my house had been shot up shortly before the shooting everyone is talking about. Not for the PR, but to let others know what's going on and to keep their eyes open for the people.

My D called the paper yesterday to find out why it wasn't in.
They said that it would most likely be in todays....it is not.
She will call a reporter today to make sure this story gets in.
She wants the shooters (as if those morons read) to know that
they got the wrong house, the wrong people. She is terrified that
they will come back to finish off the job, as it was obvious they
intended to kill people. The have made the desicion to not live in
that home again. They intend to sell it and buy something else. In
the meantime my SIL's father has several homes that he rents out and
is preparing one for them as a temporary fix.
When I look at my D and SIL it really hurts...they have this blank look
in their eyes, they have indeed been robbed as well......

It would be a massive shock!! Perhaps after they've had rest and found accomodation it might be worth mentioning counselling? Ok - you know I'm a fan of it but I think these sort of events unsettle so much of what we use to understand the world that it's good to get it out with another perspective.

It's trully sad - I hate guns, at every level.

Yes Eq...I have touched lightly on the idea of counselling already.
My D was already quite fragile prior to this happening, she just had
a baby 3 months ago so I think some of the post-partum depression
has lingered. Certainly this whole thing hasn't helped that....
My 17 year old son had a video game on the other night, it had guns
in it, he quickly turned it off once he realized what he was doing...he
turned around and looked at all of us and apologized...this has
impacted my whole family on so many levels.....

I'm sure it has Patty and it will take a long while for things to get back to "normal" again. Counseling would probably do them all a world of good. I hope the media prints this story and soon. I don't blame your daughter one bit for not wanting to keep the house. I hope they can get settled into some new digs as soon as possible.

I'm really late in replying to this. I'm very sorry for that, (brutal virus/spyware invasion knocked out my computer.) My thoughts have been with your family though and what happened to them is just absolutely horrible. I can't believe that there are people on the planet who are capable of doing that kind of stuff. I'm so glad that everyone is safe and I hope they are able to find a sense of security again. The whole thing makes me very angry. I hope everyone is doing well under the circumstances.

Thanks Aquiana and everyone that has sent prayers.
My daughter complained enough and it finally hit the
paper Thursday....Laughable really....A four line statement....
Really didn't serve the pupose she had hoped for.
They are handling things the best they can. It has been
cramped in my condo with 8 of us in it but it beats staying
where they do not feel safe. The are going to stay at her FIL's
for the next week....My heart breaks for all of them.
