Discipline of mind.
Discipline of mind.
Because I will go where my mind takes me, I act to keep it where I'd like to go.

Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

I like that too, E.
And if you cut out all the middle and simplify it, you could say, "Watch your thoughts, for they become your destiny." I would interpret that to say, think positive and positive things will result.

I know what you mean but I read it differently. I think it's so easy to slip into sloppy thinking and then suddenly words get sloppy too.
We think 'I hate people that....' - then we find ourselves saying it, then before we have really given proper thought to whether it makes sense we treat those people with less compassion. Sometimes it's no more than 'I hate people that interupt'.
Our words and actions do become habit, then we are as we thought - only, when it was only a thought or something we didn't really mean, that stage when a U turn would be so easy is long gone. There's a point where the bitterness of past actions serves us back consequences that so easily embed themselves in our thinking.
So maybe it seems fussy, I watch where things take people and know my prefered destiny - so I try to watch my thoughts and I try to watch my words.
What I call my mind and will others think of as a soul - but in my understanding nothing is more important to me than my mind and my will (intention). Because it's so important to me I work hard to do my best to care for it and where it takes me.

I'm not sure that I didn't first see that quote here - but I forgot about it till last week when somebody mentioned it after seeing my quotes on my office wall, (hey I need reminders!!).
Ever since I indulged in my quest to mean what I say - I've discovered that I first have to mean what I think. I find that deceptively hard.
I printed this out at work today and it's going on our toilet door, I like reminders there too!! It's always somewhere I have a moment to sit and think - every day!
