Treadmill

I think I have decided to pay the minimum payment on my two credit cards and take the rest of the money that I have and go buy a treadmill. I was going to throw $500.00 on my one credit card and almost pay it off, but I really want a treadmill.

I have the cash, and I really, really want one.

My H does not want me to get one, and there are other issues involved, which I can see his point to an extent, but today on the phone he said he would not be mad at me if I went out and bought myself one. I am thinking I should run with that, since he did say that, but I am afraid too. It is almost like I need his approval or reinsurance that he meant what he said.

If you want a treadmill, you should totally get it.

Emily it's all a matter of wants vs. needs. You said you want one, but do you need one?

My husband continually reminds me to ask myself if something I have my heart set on is a "want" or a "need". Most the time it's what I want, not what I need.

I say if you can afford the money to get a treadmill, then get it. If you can't then don't. However, on the flip side, you do have a young healthy dog that probably would enjoy a very quick fast paced 1/2 mile to 1 mile walk a day. See, odd thing about humans vs. dogs ....... dogs, especially Goldens LOVE all kinds of weather and if a human is dressed properly and since you don't live in the middle of no mans land, I'd bet a brisk outside walk with your dog would be very mind cleansing and healthy all around!

Personally I'd save that $500 dollars you are going to spend on a treadmill and stash it away in a "getting away from my lousy marriage/husband fund" and walk the dog .... at least it gets you away from your dopey abusive husband.

If you don't get it, don't do it because he doesn't want you to. That's not fair.

No......don't do it. Never buy such an item on credit. Pay off your card, go walk the dog or start running.

Credit Cards are EVIL!

Living with an alcoholic in an abusive relationship is not fair, heck life isn't fair. The money would be more well spent being put away for when the day comes that emily needs to leave her husband.

To me, this is frivolous spending, when emily has so many other issues in her life that need attention.

Walking/running/jogging with a dog is so much more healthier than walking on a treadmill and what a treat for the dog too! To me, that is a win win situation.

Hi Emily,
In another post you said you wanted a treadmill because you couldn't
afford to gain any weight since you stopped smoking. New clothes due to
weight gain is expensive. I think buying a treadmill is a very healthy thing
to do. Working out can help eleviate stress and keep weight under control.
I just bought a treadmill Monday. It is very state of the art....
for about $750. Yeah there are other things I could have spent the money
on but it is something I really wanted and something I really need.

Emily - a treadmill is a heck of a thing to move if you decide to leave. And if you leave it there, you'll still be paying it off if it's on a credit card.

There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.
