Big Book Quote for the Day (1/10)
"We families of Alcoholics Anonymous keep few skeletons in the
closet. Everyone knows about the others' alcoholic troubles. This
is a condition which, in ordinary life, would produce untold grief;
there might be scandalous gossip, laughter at the expense of other
people, and a tendency to take advantage of intimate information.
Among us, these are rare occurrences. We do talk about each other a
great deal, but we almost invariably temper such talk by a spirit of
love and tolerance."

Jon,
It figures I would be the one to disagree with this a bit!
My husband goes to AA, I had "heard" that he hasn't been sharing at meetings. So, he brought it up on his own that it seem when the meeting is over, they all stand outside & start bad mouthing. Like "can you believe he did that?" "I can't believe he slipped" "She'll never make it" That sort of stuff. So because we live in a small town, this is the only meeting, he is uncomfortable sharing. Lest he will be the topic of conversation. And I do know these conversations do go on, as I know some of the people, & they have brought this or that up. And it actually makes me uncomfortabe. I feel it should be left at the meeting.
I don't have this problem going to Alanon. Perhaps he is using this as an excuse, since his statement is still "it is none of anyones business" Well, he will have to deal with this his way.
Thanks for letting me share this.
