Loving Kindness Meditation

I posted this sometime early last year. While doing my "self work", I remembered it.

I want to share it with my friends here. It was written by my therapist who has since passed from cancer.

Loving Kindness Meditation

May I be well and may I be happy.
May I be free from the need to suffer.
May I be present to life as it unfolds moment to moment.
May I be accepting.
May I be healthy.
May I prosper in all ways, always.
May I love and may I be loved.
May I experience all that life has to offer,
the bitter as well as the sweet.
May I be patient and kind.
May I be merciful and compassionate.
May I be present to life as it unfolds, moment to moment.
May I be centered in the awareness of each moment.
May I be free from the need to control outcome.
May I trust.
May I be balanced.
May I be resilient and flexible.
May I be open and aware.
May I be safe.
May I accept each moment as it is.
May I be free to be the me I came into this world to be.

To be read first for self, then for a loved one, and then for one for whom we have ill feelings.

DONE!! I could mean it but felt sad as I know she would hate me to say any words from meditation or any religion other than her own.

I said it one more time, for all those drinking, and for politicians.

Thank you! One thing about medtitation, prayer, and love going out for someone else is:

I can do it whether they know it or not and there's not one thing they can do to stop me.

I do it by my choice and I put the results in my H.P.'s hands.

I am lucky to live close enough to attend author Max Lucado's church. This Sunday, Max told us a story about two radio DJs in Atlanta, I think. A producer decided to make a cartoon version of them, and he asked the two radio personalities (Rick & Bubba I think) to do the voices. The producer kept trying to change the way Rick read his parts. Finally Rick asked them, "Is there really anybody who can be a better me than me?"

Max continued to remind us that we were put here to just be us. He said, "There is no one in the whole world who can do a better job of being you," adding that we all had a specific combination of gifts that no one else had exactly.

Neat, huh?

Thanks for sharing K.

Tex...of all the wishes, that is my biggest wish. To be the me I came into this world to be. I know I've not yet "found" my true self and am looking forward to seeing who that person is.

Thanks for sharing that, Kathy. I'm going to make this part of my daily meditation.
