I know the feeling. It is both cold and painful. You are right, you have no further worries as it is all up from here.
Took me _years_ to learn that simple lesson. You're a better student of this than I am 
Having once been a 16yr old smarty-pants I can tell you that you are not being mean. You are being the best possible Mom any young man could ever want. The kind of Mom that _allows_ us to learn the important lessons in life while still loving us.
You're a way cool lady, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.
