I posted this on a newcomer's thread today. Hope it helps.
p.s. words fail me. Why would anyone want to have an alcoholic as their higher power?
I see my HP as my sub-conscience, that part of my brain that processes and remembers experiences, readings, conversations etc etc. My "Higher Self", if you like. The answers to all my questions are out there somewhere and may come from something shared in a meeting, a passage in a book or a post on here. My sub-conscious fits the pieces of the jigsaw together and puts that stuff into my conscience mind - sometimes obviously, sometimes through my gut feeling. I have learned to ALWAYS listen to my gut feeling.

Don't quite understand what you are saying..
I had a roommate in college with epilepsy and it didn't affect her thinking..
I used the Al-Anon and AA groups, as my higher power. Also mother nature, trees, mtn's, etc.
I think the trick is to stop looking up to your SO, we should be equals and partners.
Just my thinking.
Take what you can use and leave the rest. Keep coming back.
