Thanks for posting this. As an alcoholic I have used every single one of those excuses (except for the married one).

Yup, I definitely played the victim.

Alwayslookingup,

Actually, I heard the thump from the back deck (we were in the living room). I did wait a couple of minutes before I looked at my daughter and said "I suppose I should go see what's going on". I'll admit, I didn't handle it very well. I took the glass of wine he'd been drinking and threw it as far as I could into the woods in the back yard.
