The Genie God I wish I knew. It is something that has been on my mind a lot of late. I tend to believe it is more about insecurity, and relying on other people to make you feel good. This song of Don Henley's jumped out at me tonight: (Don Henley/Stan Lynch/Stuart Brawley) Is this what you wanted? Did you even think twice? Didn't they tell you that anything that feels this good Comes with a price It gave you such a rush Now you think you've had enough It's not that easy to walk away This is the hard stuff You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle And everything matters, everything matters Every little thing you do That smoldering tingle under your skin That sweet, delicious, but not-so-original sin And when the world becomes too little or too much The shadow mind contrives The triumph and the tragedy that we invite into our lives And Adam glanced back at the tree As he was leaving Said, ¡°Baby, that's the price we pay Knowing is grieving¡± You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle And everything matters, everything matters Everything you say, everything you do And the past comes back to smack you around For all the things you thought you got for free For the arrogance to think that you could somehow Defy the laws of gravity These are lessons in humility Penitence for past offenses Consequences, consequences You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle You can't get the genie back in the bottle |
I am not sure that I would waste my time trying to figure out what makes a cheating spouse tick...if it walks like a duck... Sometimes it makes no difference. I am not a big believer that alcohol or drugs MAKES a person cheat. Just one more bad behavior that they can blame on using. (Excuse me whilst I duck!!!) You could classify Ward as an alcoholic but cheat? You CAN use and still have morals. Sure he has driven cars into trees and almost burned down the house....but no matter where he was I could always walk in and say "hi" and never worry about finding him in a compromising situation. Hugs, JT |
Hey Along, Loved the lyrics you printed. Loved them so much I went to Kaaza to try to find it so I could download it and listen to it. I typed in Don Henley, but didn't see a title that looked like it fit your lyrics. Could you give me the name of that song, please? Thanks....Hugs! |
I wondered the same thing ekp. My husband cheated on me several times over the years we have been married. He was always drunk or drinking when he did, but that is NO EXCUSE for such behavior!! The woman that he was with said she loved him drunk and all I had was a piece of paper. Well all these years later she has never been married and has five children from four different men and I have been with my husband for 25 yrs. She still wishes she had him and he says he wants nothing to do with her. She is the" fatal attraction" type. I used to hate her years ago, but now I just feel sorry for her. I really believe that he never cheats anymore and has not for a long time. Maybe he is just too old to play the game anymore. I am concentrating on ME now after all these years. I wish I would have done that when I was younger! Best wishes, matters |
