Hurricanes don't stop Al-Anon's

We survived Hurricane Katrina in Miami...had meetings in the hot, dark room at the church, talked about how grateful we were that is wasnt worse than it was, that we are used to dealing with Hurricane Alcoholism and got thru that, and that we will get thru this disaster too.

Incredible to talk about gratitude hours after a devestating hurricane..it burned my next door neighbors house down when power line fell on it. We hosted them in our home, gave them food, towels, hugs..., took firemen 20 mins just to arrive,,water and wind that bad. Lost power, phone, hundreds of trees...some 9 people lost thier lives.

They lost thier little dog in the fire, but they survived...I kept reminding them, they survived, they are alive, thier loves ones are alive.

Hard to remember when disaster strikes, but essential to know.....
We survived. Now, let's start living again.

Missed you guys!

Thanks everyone...now our prayers need to go North to Lousiana and Mississippi. THose people are drowning in flood waters of 20 feet deep.

Someone always has it worse than me......and this just shows how dern grateful I am we got away with minimal damage.
