Goodbye Dear Friend
Goodbye Dear Friend
Good Bye My Dear Friend,
About 5 years ago my wife gave me a beautiful full-grown cat as a birthday present.
She was gray and white and very fluffy.
Part angora I think.
Well we named her Cherub, but it never stuck.
She would answer to Meyu Meyu, so that name was hers.
Fat and de clawed she was but with the brave heart of a big bear.
Through the yeas we grew very close.
She was so loving and watchful over us.
When my wife decided to leave me she left me with only her and took the rest of the pets.
Meyu did not like the family split apart; she would walk the halls and look for the others.
When I left for work, my roommate said she would sit at the door and cry for at least an hour.
She would great me at night when I returned.
She never left my side for this bad year we had.
She never gave up.
We were left here alone, but we had each other.
Even when the other cats were brought back, my girl stayed near me.
Last week she took ill.
Sneezing and eyes watering. She got very sick.
I fed her by hand and gave her antibiotics.
She slept on my chest and held on to my hand like a small child.
Last night she looked bad and reached up to me and screamed.
I knew we had to go back to the vet.
Today after work I picked her up to go to the vet.
I wrapped her up in her towel and she road along side me down the road.
She talked to me all the way down and reached out to me a few times.
I held her hand.
The vet gave me the worst news I could get.
Her kidneys were shot and her liver was going.
The veins were collapsing and she was dying.
My friend was leaving me.
He told me that we should put her down to avoid anymore suffering.
I had no choice.
As the doctor came in, Meyu reached out to me one last time and grabbed my hand.
We said goodbye

((((Meyu))))
At least she is no longer suffering. And she's not leaving you - she'll still be around. When one of my cats passed away, it was amazing how the other one started showing some of the same mannerisms and sometimes still does nearly 5 years on.
Thinking of you.

(((((mr. c))))) - how well i know how you are feeling. i just went thru a similar experience with my 18 yr. old Lucky in May. She had developed kidney problems and after numerous attempts at trying to give her some quality of life, transfusion, etc. I made the decision to let her go. She was the most lovable, sweetest cat of our clan and it was the last and only time I have cried in the past 2 years.
my heart goes out to you and what Minnie said is true - their spirits will always surround us with their love!
Hugs - Christie

(((Mr. C.))) We are all thinking of you. I have lost a lot in the last 3 years or so, my 13-year-old cat Boo Boo, his kidney's shut down, my 11-year-old dog, and then my mother last year. It has been a time of change.
Mr. C - I posted this a while back when my Lucky went over the Rainbow Bridge - may it help you in your time of sorrow!

((((Mr. C)))) I'm so sorry about your cat. Pets are so special. I can't even go away on a holiday without missing my kitty so I can't imagine how you feel. I believe there's a special place for them too.
Thank you all for writing.
I can not begin to tell you how very much it means to me.
The harsh reality of it is just so difficult to take and just as hard to explain.
The last night she was with me she crawled of to me in bed and put her head on my Bible as I read.
She would do this every night.
The last one was no different.
But last night was for me because she was not there.
I will truly miss her and the devotion she showed me no matter what happened.
Thank you all again so very much.
Here is to Meyu!

Mr. Christian, my heart goes out to you. As you can tell from my name I am an animal lover. With no human children, my cats and dogs are my children and I would fight to the death for them. The pain of losing a dear fur friend is very hard and only gets better with time. Please remember that Meyu is not suffering and will be waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge.
The way to Cat Heaven is a field of sweet grass
where crickets and butterflies play.
A cat may be late in getting to Heaven . . .
there's so much fun on the way!
But an angel will wait
at the yellow front door,
wait til a kitty
comes home.
And when she arrives,
he'll give her a kiss
and some milk
in a bowl all her own.
There are trees
in Cat Heaven,
trees made just for cats,
trees growing
so green and so high.
But no one gets stuck in a tree
anymore --
if a cat wants down,
she will fly!
And oh the toys,
kitty toys everywhere,
thousands and thousands
go by.
There are buttons and baubles
and small cotton mice --
there is catnip afloat
in the sky!
There are angels,
of course,
with soft angel laps
where kitties can purr
loud and strong.
The angels will rub
kitties' noses and ears
and sing them
a Cat Heaven song.
And when cats are hungry,
there's God's kitchen counter
all covered with
white kitty dishes,
full of tuna and salmon
and mounds of sardines,
and wonderful little pink fishes.
The cats in Cat Heaven
are so loved and spoiled
God lets them all
lie on his bed . . .
He walks in His garden
with a good black book
and a kitty
asleep on His head.
Then when a cat needs,
she may just simply ponder
and watch the blue world deep and wide . . .
She will watch the old house
where she once lived and wandered,
and the people who loved her inside.
All cats love Heaven,
they know the way there,
they know where
the angel cats fly.
They'll run past the stars
and the moon and the sun . . .
. . . to curl up with God in the sky.
I am very very sorry for your loss.
