He told me I was pretty and that he loved me...
and that I looked especially pretty in pink, he stroked my hand, kissed me goodbye and then my beloved father slipped away surrounded by his six remaining children, my mother and his wife of 48 years, and three of his grandchildren.
And in his last few moments when he no longer had enough strength to speak, he smiled at me and winked at my sister, then took my mother's hand in his and the most precious man in my life was gone.
I just wanted to thank you all for your prayers, your kind words, and support. At first I asked for a miracle, then I asked that he wouldn't suffer, and today when he began to struggle to breathe, I asked God to call him home. Tonight my prayers were answered.
He was a wonderful father and I love him dearly. I'm going to miss him so very much. Goodnight Daddy.

I am so glad that he didn't suffer and that he was at peace with the world. I am going to miss him too, though I didn't know him. The world needs more men like your Dad.

It's hard to imagine how much love must have been in that room. It sounds like a fine testament to a fine life.
I'm so sorry he's gone, but I'm sure he'll never be forgotten. Thank you for sharing some of what he was with us here - it's a true inspiration. When I read your first post what stood out in my mind was all the nice things he would say to you and how important that is. It's a little piece of wisdom that I intend to steal and keep.

I can't even imagine how much pain you are going thru. Know that I am praying for you and for you dad, and that all us codies love you in a very special way. Your dad was truly a wonderful man. God was rewarding him for that when He gave him a daughter as special as you.

My prayers are SO with you and your family today. The same thing happened to me when my Dad died of cancer. I was with him and My Mom until his last breath and all he was concerned about was us and how we were doing. The love was tremendous!
I am So grateful for that! That time we had together. Hold on to that and just know that wherever you are......he is always there with you watching over you and loving you.
One day, you'll be reunited again. In the meantime, he no longer suffers and what a peaceful thing that is for you to know when losing such a close person.

I am so sorry that you are grieving. I know that long and lonely road all too well. I have three children in heaven sitting to the right of God himself. Your daddy is in fine company.
