Yes....
I often saw this situation when I worked in Hospice.
And with my Mother as well.
Been quiet and tired...asking for family members...not drinking or eating. He is preparing to leave.
How wonderful his life has been to be loved by all of you! He is a hero and a success.
I send concern and compassion to all of you.

He sounds so cool! The sort of person that makes me wish I'd met them. I don't really know how to say this but it strikes me he has this incredible force of love round him, that he's rightfully earned.
I know personally I don't really care how I die physically as much as I care how I die as a person, I hope I achieve a fraction of what your father has and right now I get this feeling he knows it. He knows he's loved, he knows he's a fine patriarch, he knows it's time and that he won't be alone.
I hope that made some sense - it's meant out of respect for someone who sounds so gentle and loving.
((((FD))))) I've never lost anyone that important to me, I'm trying to imagine it but I can't so I don't really know what to say except I'm thinking of you.

May God Bless all of you through this terrible situation. I know how hard this is going to be on all of you. Try your best to enjoy that Pizza Party. It will be sympathetic to you in the years to come remembering that Pizza Party. The joy that your Dad felt watching all of his children and grandchildren happy and stuffing your faces with Pizza.
