Feeling sad today

I'm learning why Alanon is so important to my mental health. It's not about fixing the alcoholic, it's about fixing me!

The alcoholic in my life has been sober a month now - she's medicated and acting weird, but sober, at least. She's sleeping a lot, partly to detoxing from the drinking, and partly from all the meds the doctor gave her...

Anyway, here I am, feeling sad and lonely. I wonder if I am addicted to the adrenalin rush I used to get from reacting to all her alcoholic behaviour?

I'm looking forward to my Alanon meeting tomorrow. (I really need it!!)

Robin

Way to go, robin! It takes some folks years to get to that realization. Today I understand that if all the alcoholics in my life were put on a rocket to the moon, I'd still be left with the insanity in my head... That's why I continue to embrace a program of recovery. It ain't about them...

I know that I was addicted to the chaos. When the chaos was gone, I was left with my feelings and no "anesthesia"... At that point, I have decisions. Do I create my own chaos or do I seek serenity?

Today, I'll take serenity.

Thanks, nocellphone

Staying serene is a daily challenge, isn't it?
