very basic posting/reading posts question

Hi
I'm new here as of last night. I am finding the posts that I've read to mirror my life. I felt so alone and now I have been encouraged to get help with finding a meeting and getting a codependency book.
My question is this - I do not know what the letter abbreviations mean in the posts. For example, I think I figured out that "AH" must mean alcohoic husband, but what do the others stand for? "MM"? for example and others? Any insight would be helpful. There seems to be such a wealth of info that it is confusing where to start at first. Thanks

Hi again Anglig

Could do with some of that help myself!!
Perhaps one of the *older* members will give us a hand?

Here's the ones I think? I know.

XABF - ex alcoholic boyfriend (meaning he's *history*!)

SR - Sober Recovery

AF - alcoholic fiance

SO - significant other

Don't know what MM means myself.

Like yourself I'm not used to *forum speak* but I guess we'll both get there eventualy

I think MM is married man.

DOC- drug of choice

AD AS- alcoholic/addict daughter or son

That's all I can think of right now. If you have any questions, please ask!!! Welcome and good luck. All you will find here is good wishes and, hopefully, some help.

Welcome to SoberRecovery. I can relate to what you said, when I first came here I felt like I found home. So many people and storied I could relate to. For me, it was a huge relieve.

Here are some abbreviations I learned while here:

HP - Higher Power
OMG - Oh My Gawd
IMHO - In My Humble Opion
IMO - In My Opion
LOL - Lots of Laughs
OW - Other woman
OM - Other man

Stick around, I've learn so much from these wonderful people.

OM - Other man
WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!! I think I made that one - cos apart from me taking the mickey out of it's unlikelyhood, I'd certainly never seen it before!

Personally apart from names I try to avoid using them. I don't know why but 'my A' especially always somehow crunches in my guts. I suppose I think of some saying 'My C' refering to a friend or family with cancer. Or 'My L' refering to someone else who lies. Either way behaviour or disease, something about it as an absolute definition gives me the wobbles.

*** Not saying that I should have any right to judge it - just saying how it makes me feel in response.
