feel good songs
what makes you smile every time you hear it?
all of us have songs that make us smile.
the theme from Grease sung with my daughter is one.
the theme song from National Lampoon Vacation is also a good one.
so what brings a ray of sunshine into a dark day for you?

I Need Somebody Groovy by the Mamas and the Papas.
Some might see it as hippy, easy-listening nonsense but it's been cheering me up on a daily basis for at least 5 years.
I need somebody groovy,
Someone who's able to move me, yeah. (yeah)
They gotta move me like they should.
And when I find somebody, yeah, I'm gonna treat 'em good.
(No) Don't need no imitations!
(No) Can't use my imagination, no! (Yeah...yeah)
They gotta move me like they should.
And when I find somebody, yeah, I'm gonna treat 'em good.
Oh, please, please believe me;
I need someone to relieve me.
Yeah, (yeah, yeah) they gotta move me like they should.
And when I find somebody, yeah, I'm gonna treat 'em good.
I need somebody groovy,
Someone who really can move me, yeah. (yeah)
Yeah, they gotta move me like they should.
And when I find somebody, yeah, I'm gonna treat 'em good.
And when I find somebody, yeah, I'm gonna treat 'em good.
Hope someone out there listens to it good and loud and gets some pleasure!

Twinkle twinkle little star( for my daughter's reaction)... it was my daughter's first book and she sings and dances whenever she hears it or we sing the song. I think it will always be her favorite too. Her first words were up above, even before mama( which she said before papa..yeah) !!!
Ahhhh
Fingerprints of God....
I can only Imagine....
Those is one of my favorites.
I also get weepy when I hear that song about the man watching his daughter grow up, "putting little white flowers up in her hair" then at the end she is getting married and doing the same... cant remember the name of it.

Stevie Wonder's "I just called to say I love you."
When my son got in his teens, he didn't think it was "cool" to say 'I love you" to his mom on the phone if his friends were around. So he'd say something like, "this is a Stevie Wonder call." He still does it sometimes on my voice mail, makes me smile every time!
I think second on my list would be Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young."
As a catholic girl, it just rings SO true.
Third would be "It Ain't Easy Being Green." One of my daughters always hums it or sings it under her breath when someone stands up against someone or something. It was her version of sarcasm...no matter how heated the exchange, her little song always made me smile.

My all time favourite would have to be 'True Colours' by Cyndi Lauper. It makes me think of the beauty of people, and the pleasures that can be found whenever we get the chance to see that.

Oh, also You've got a Friend by James Taylor
That frog song drives me nuts. Luckily I have a mute button for the telly.
Mind you, it's not as bad as that fluffy chicken ringtone thing...

When you’re down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
I’ll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You’ve got a friend.
If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They’ll hurt you and desert you.
Well they’ll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don’t you let them.
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don’t you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you’ve got to do is call.
Lord, I’ll be there, yes I will.
You’ve got a friend.
You’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
