Welcome to all the New People

I noticed lots of new people posting on SR. I just wanted to say Welcome and you have come to the right place...there are many of us here that have been in similar situations...

Personally I hope you will all also try Alanon..For me it has been a life saver and a wonderful adventure.

Read all the stickies, don't be afraid to post anything you want.

Once again. Welcome!

Minx

I am new to this, My sister has a drinking problem and I am so worried about her, I fear she is going to drink herself to death. This has been going on for years. What to do ? Some times I could choke her some times I just want to hug her..my heart goes out to her, but feeling sorry for her isn't the answer either. She needs help! but how do I help her realize this?

Welcome Vanilla,
You've come to the right place, your sister is blessed to have a sister like you!
I'm new here too and I'm sure one of the *older members* will be along to help you soon.
Stick around and read some of the amazing advice you'll find on here.

Hi,

I went to my first al-anon meeting tonight. I left with a handful of leaflets picked out for me by other members, two phone numbers with the instruction to call anytime and an invitation to join some of the other group members for social coffee after the meeting! I was soooo grateful to be amongst people who responded to my situation like that. I am actually looking forward to my next meeting. Find yours and GO!!
To everyone who has welcomed us new people a huge THANKYOU. The support that i have found in the last 3 days is fantastic.....

Hey S-J,

Glad you had a good experience..As one of my Alanon friends likes to say that I like to "pounce" on the new people..Nah..I just want everyone to feel welcome and love on them until they feel better..

It worked for me.
