No, it's not my "real" birthday, but I'm sure it must be my SR birthday very soon.

The best gift I have ever been given. I can barely remember how I was a year ago. The pace of change has been so rapid and so wonderful.

In the past year, I have gone from being a nagging, demanding, miserable, despairing, clueless and hollow individual to one who is hopeful, open, accepting and beginning to get to know who the real Minnie is. I don't get it right all the time, but I know when I have slipped and I have the tools to do it better next time. I am closer to my family and friends, I have a great support network in al-anon and particularly here on SR, and I am starting to enjoy life again. I often feel like I am stumbling into the light, however I have people around me who will hold my arm until my eyes adjust.

Thank you everyone for being here. You have all been such a major part in my recovery.

I needed to take the time to reflect on how far I have come in the past year. I know I still have far to go, but marking the milestones gives me a sense of perspective.
