My husband starts his new job tomorrow...

so, of course, he got drunk today.

I was so proud of myself for knowing this was going to happen and arranging to be gone for the entire day. Arriving home just in time to see him put himself to bed at 7PM.

I pray this is the turn around he needs. He is excited about this job and looking forward to doing SOMETHING and the money will be good.

If he screws this up, there are no 3rd chances at starting over. We both know this.

Keep us in your prayers as this transition happens.

I am feeling strong and confident and really good about how well I have managed to settle back into living with an active drinker...in some ways it has been easier for me than being on the edge of leaving at every turn.

I am THANK THANK THANK whoever it was that posted about the raging mother is far more detrimental to the children than the drunk father. I have resolved to keep peace in my household. I will not feed the fire...I walk away, walk away, walk away and let it go...

Jenny

hope the transitional is smooth and peaceful for both of you.

Yes, that "raging mother" thing hit home for me too. And my AH hasn't even lived here for 6 months! So glad to hear you have "settled" into living again! Way to go! Glad you are able to head this off at the pass like you did. I look back over the past three 1/2 years and wish I had done what you are doing so much more often.

Take care and peace to you and your family!
