This is hard...name just one.

What one thing bothers you the most about your SO's drinking?

I think for me it is the constant uncertainty...what will he be like tonight? Is he drinking?

It's never being able to fully relax.

One thing? Blimey.

That awful sense of loneliness that can only come when your supposed partner is emotionally unavailable.

The self anger....thinking that surely it was something that I did or did'nt do that made him use/drink.

With my husband it was the loneliness and having to carry one by myself without support, and fear of being alone forever. With my son, the fear I will get a call from the hospital or police telling me to come identify him.

Boy just one thing? That's tough!

I think it would be turning his own guilt & self hatred on to me & the mind games he uses to try to get me to believe that I am the one at fault for his drinking...

The same thing that bothers me when one of my children are late and no phone call.
The knowing what can be and the worry that would go along with it.
I can do two things... worry and bite my nails
or Place things in God's hands.
I like the placing things in God's hands better. I can get some sleep and keep my nails at the same time.
When things are beyond my control, I find it best to put them in someones hands who can handle it.

Two come to mind: His denial of his problem and me questioning my own assessment of his problem...

Oh...just one more...the sound of a beer can opening was enough to send me running for the hills!

Think loneliness would be one of the thing on the top ten of my list. Him not taking a bath for weeks on end..wearing the same old clothes..won't go shopping for new clothes and yes we have money for him to be buying him new clothes. Won't get a haircut for months.

One thing IS hard! Um, I think just his Drunken State! He is slurring his words by the time I get home from work at 6pm, (he gets home around 4:30!) and It's just so sad that such a capable and intelegent man is wasting his life like that! I used to look up to him!

Lying about how much he drinks, hiding the booze and my accidently discovering it in really obscure places. He hid a bottle of scotch and a shot glass in an upstairs bedroom closet. The only reason I found it was because one of my cats got in the closet and knocked all the shoes off the shoe rack. When I started tidying up, I saw to really stiff-looking pair of socks on the floor. That's when I found it.

Denial in any form equals lack of trust.
