We are preparing...

My husband has to be at the rehab center on Monday at 9 AM.

He has organized what little money we have to pay essentials and give me enough grocery money.

He has cleaned the entire house.

He has left notes for the children for them to get every day that he is gone.

He cleaned out the garage and found the garage door opener so I can park inside (it has been YEARS since I have been able to do that).

He called my best friend and instructed her to be very nice to me, call me often and bring me dinner.

He has told his best friend and drinking buddy that their relationship is over as they have known it. And asked him to plow our drive if it snows.

He is ready.

I am ready. I am relieved. I am hopeful. I am going to get hair cut on Tuesday. My mom is paying for it.

He says he wants to change with his words and these actions that he has put in place SHOW me that he is changing already.

Keep sending us good thoughts...for today they are working.

Jenny

Jenny,
Blessings to your husband, ( and you!) on this new road he is starting on. Don't be scared. Think of it as a new beginning. Keep posting here, we will be there for you and support you while he is gone and when he returns.
Have you tried ALANON? It is a great face to face support group for family members of alcoholics. Even though he is entering rehab, he will still be working on recovery when he comes home and there will be changes and challenges to face. ALANON, can help you through.
Keep us posted.
Dawn

lots of prayers your way, Jenny.

I'm curious, do employers let you take a leave while you are in rehab? My ex was going to go to an in-patient. I'm curious if he would lose his job. I hope not, he's worked so hard to get where he is. But he really really needs to check in somewhere. His drinking has gotten so bad.

Hugs to you Jenny. I'm glad he told his drinking buddy their relationship is over.

Actually he HAD his own business, which he drank into the ground. So we have TONS of debt and he has no income. We use my medical insurance which will cover almost all of the rehab costs. He IS going to find a regular job as soon as he gets back from rehab. Doing ANYTHING to bring in money....he has committed to that much.

I think that most employers will let you use sick time for rehab, it MUST be covered under some sort of disabilty/medical leave I would imagine.

Prayers to you,

Jenny
