Buddist saying

I wanted to share this. It was on MSNBC.com in an article about the tsunami. A phychiatrist that is working with the traumatized people said this.

In the spiritual sense, the first teaching of Buddhism, the principal religion of this nation, is that life is suffering and that this cannot be avoided.

This is the lesson that Ganesan has come to understand in his time on this leeward shore: To suffer is to survive. To bear it with grace and courage is to live.
It really struck me that I need to do more than survive. I need to live.

Ditto!!

I keep waiting for Grace and Courage to get in touch!! I could use some time with them.....

Edit - Eeeeep!! That sounds like I'm taking the mick - I am but only out of myself, the saying is a good 'un!

here is another one that i feel is fitting to most of us cody's

"what comes is not to be avoided. what goes, is not to be followed."

i think about this quote all the time in my quest to "stay away" from my ex even when she comes calling back like she did last night.

what "came" in her life was ALWAYS avoided and NEVER dealt with. and so her life is a wreck. but that doesn't mean i have to continue to subject myself to that crap from her and "follow" her for fear of being alone.

if i could remember who said that quote i'd give proper accreditation.

have a good day.

Hi jsny. That's a good one. Remembering that saying would keep me from being in denial about issues.
Thanks!

yeah it's hard to do, but i work on it everyday. it really hit home for me in dealing with my ex-gf. she NEVER deals with her current issues, and yet i stayed and followed her, at times anyway. even today i miss her not being in my life, as phucked up as she is. sux!
