there's always the work to do

I stopped this morning to re - read some of my first posts, to remember what brought me here and to remind myself of what I've had to learn and practice.

As I've been living my life and meeting new people, I've definitely found some new friends that are really good to be around, found a service group that requires sobriety and recovery so I feel supported and safe while doing good things . . . I remember feeling shocked when someone did something thoughtful and kind for me, and that was just how they treated everyone.

I've hit a snag with a couple of my older friends from before this year, found out a bit too much, saw a few too many things that were off, and I really needed to remind myself why I live the way I live now. It's hard for me to cut off contact with both of these friends. I do feel like I am stronger in being able to be firm about boundaries, and honest about what I do and don't need. It's just hard, and sad.

The mantras that are getting so much use these days, "I release all that does not serve me . . ." Let me repeat those a few hundred more times.
