Suddenly feeling confused.
To add to Eauchiche's point:
I was in an acting class decades ago, and the prof was getting us to improve our posture, try new things, etc. He pulled my shoulders back and it actually hurt. I'd rounded my shoulders forward to conceal my flat chest for so long, the muscles had grown accustomed to a really unattractive /unhealthy position. We all discussed this (it was the 70s, everything was fair game). And Prof asked, "Do any of you have a relative who married the same person over and over?" "You mean like my aunt Rose married my uncle Henry three times?" said one of my classmates. No, he said, the same type of person over and over. Even if it's not great or productive or healthy, there's a kind of comfort that comes from knowing what to expect.
I never learned to act, but I learned a lot about life from that man.
