I think it's just wonderful that you are being so thoughtful about all of this NYC.
Yes, there are cases where the relationship can't progress because one or both do not have or show what the other person needs. I don't mean that in a derogatory way at all, people are just different, need other things, possess great qualities but it might not be a match.
For instance, if a person can live with a person who is addicted and STILL have what they need in life to be content, it is surely an option but I think it's an exception and - well you know the rest.
So good for you for getting out there and meeting people, you are doing well!
