Talk about mixed signals! Sending a card says you're still interested. It is easy to deceive ourselves but ask: what's my motive?

Yes I know what you mean NYCDoglvr and even if I really was interested only in keeping general good relations with both himself and 'the family' I wont send any cards. I have actually decided to donate for charity in my x's honour.

I will feel like mr. Bean in the coming days lol, who wrote to himself for his Birthday and then opened his own card pretending that he is surprised haha.

You don't have to be Mr. Bean and write your own card. Lots of people here,. You will never have to feel alone.

It will, with time and patience. It's not fun, but things really do get better. Take care of yourself, spend time with people who reflect the best parts of you, and your feelings and focus will start to shift.

Thinking you "should" send a card is just another way of maintaining contact. It is so hard to cut ties, I know, I'd rather have a tooth pulled! Alanon was a lifesaver for me, the support is invaluable so I recommend it.
