He’s insane

Morning all. Today is lawyer day. Moving ahead. My Alcoholic is all over the place emotionally, wanting to lay down next to, to having a bill wilson white light moment, to attacking me verbally. He’s all over the place. I went out with friends last night and he was oh so solicitous about if I had a good time. What was good to eat etc...bizarre! He barely gets dressed anymore. Walking around the house naked, spilling stuff, leaving a mess. This is insane. I cannot wait until it’s over and I can have him removed. He truly is insane. Odaat

Ok. Now it’s my fault. It’s my fault he’s an alcoholic. It’s my fault he doesn’t go to treatment. It’s my fault he’s not in A.A. he’s crying he doesn’t want to lose me, but this is all my fault. Insanity

This is addiction. He will say whatever he has to say to avoid acknowledging that he is his own worst enemy. You didn't cause it, you can't control it, and you cannot cure it.

It is a kind of insanity, but it is not your insanity.

Sadly you won't control it unless he wants to. I come at the angle regrettably from knowing myself to be insane when drinking too much, on the precipice of extreme danger.

I don't know if this help but my advice would be do not engage him at all when he's drunk, because he won't respond rationally at all, and tell him the affect he has on you when he's relatively sober.

Do you Baker Act in your state? It might be dangerous for him to simply withdraw on his own at this point, and if he is incoherent, perhaps that would be a way to get him out of the house safely and dried out? Is he mostly lucid or really acting crazy?

I don't know much about it, but others here do.

Baker Act

This sounds like ask really miserable situation. I guess all you can do is remind yourself that you are moving ahead and the day will come when you are out of this. And yes, headphones with loud music!
