Love.
Came across this at my course last weekend and am sharing, because it relates so much to that codependent behaviour of looking outside of ourselves for external validation, the knight on a white horse. I need this particularly at the moment too. Hope you enjoy.
LOVE
No one is going to love you
exactly like you imagine.
No one is ever going to read
your mind and take every star
from the sky at the perfect
time and hand it to you.
No one is going to show up
at your door on a horse,
with a shoe you lost.
Do you understand?
That’s why you have to love
yourself enough, so that
any other love just adds
more candles to the cake
you’ve already iced.

That's really nice Glenjo and true.
This part reminded me of a story:
No one is going to show up
at your door on a horse,
with a shoe you lost.
I had a friend who was very shy and introverted and she lived on a horse farm just outside the city, with her family, but we worked together, shared an office.
Her Mom used to tell her that she needed to get out there because no man was just going to show up at the door for her!
Well, they were Irish (the parents) and someone's Son was visiting the country and showed up at their door to stay for a bit.
You can guess where this is going lol
They did end up together and have been married for several years now.
Unfortunately, he was very possessive and never liked me! That destroyed our friendship.

lol - I didn't even make that connection, but you are absolutely right.
Yeah no one really liked the guy and our other friend and myself wondered if we should have a - oh no don't marry him! intervention - but we decided not to (which is, of course a good call).
He was cocky and rude (especially when he was drinking - go figure).
