A new day, a new viewpoint

Meditation quiets the mind and allows settling of thoughts, the same as stillness allows mud to settle and water become clear. I really like that visual!

Ease of life is possible. Learning to tap into this -- in many ways -- keeps transforming the way I see myself, my life and others.

The three A's: Awareness, Acceptance, Action.

In meditation that gets switched up for me.
Action: meditate
Acceptance: of myself, this moment, this breath
Awareness: new viewpoints naturally come about

The most important part of my meditation practice is being open to learning how to meditate.

An al-anon friend helped greatly with this. Once I started looking for ways to meditate, I started learning. 30 seconds was a good start for me. Now I'm enjoying meditating in different ways for long periods of time.

There's a Zen saying that goes something like this: “If you don't have time to meditate for an hour everyday, meditate for two hours and you will find the time for everything you need to achieve. The rest will easily wait or drop away."

There is a rhythm to life that allows more of everything good. More peace, enjoyment, friends, healing and accomplishments.

We are getting four warm (40 degree) days here this week and I have started taking my tea outside on the porch with a warm blanket in the early evenings, just before the sun sets. I sit on a rocking chair, look at the snow melting, and focus on the trees that will have buds in just a couple of months. My thoughts get quiet and it’s amazing.

Go outside.
Find a deciduous tree, oak, maple, sassafras, etc.
Look closely at the branches.
There you will see small buds, a promise of spring to come.

I started meditating with less than 2 minutes. It's a practice. It gets easier as we do it, like building mental muscles. I'm grateful for those near me who spent time talking with me about their meditation practices.

Today I went for a winter walk with pup, enjoying the sparkly-cold white, bright landscape.

With spring coming, trusting my gut instinct, the weather report and principles of "The Magic of Tidying", it seems time to say goodbye to my well insulated winter boots. My all terrain shoes are great for the transitional mud phase that's coming up.

I enjoy seeing how easily new comes into my life as I need it. I had fun buying these boots and trust they'll find a great new home in good timing. It's fun to pass on these boots that look almost new.
