welcoming: behaving in a polite or friendly way

liking: a feeling of regard or fondness

calm: the absence of violent or confrontational activity

enjoyment: the state or process of taking pleasure in something

As I see and acknowledge these words and meanings as character traits I see in myself, I nuture them.

Tranquility:

a state of calm or quietude

Meditation, mindfulness and being open to spirituality can bring an ease, practice and inner tranquility.

Heroism:

great courage and bravery

"The notions of alcoholism and of heroism seem diametrically opposed, but the recovering alcoholic understands the courage it takes to live a happy, productive life while dealing with the disease of alcoholism."

This applies very much to us (friends and family members) and alcoholics who are recovering or attempting to.

Suffix '-ness': Adjective to Noun. There are lots of adjectives in English that we can convert into nouns by using 'ness'. A noun ending in 'ness' literally means the state of the original adjective. For example, calmness means 'the state of being calm.

Calm, adjective:

pleasantly free (from waves, wind, strong emotions)

Calm, verb:

Make (self) tranquil and quiet; soothe.

Calm, noun.

He felt a sudden sense of calm, of contentment.

Calmness, noun:

The state or quality of being free from agitation or strong emotion.

‘those who worked with him refer time and again to his calmness under pressure’

‘she exuded calmness and good humour’
